How To Make Sweet Jiffy Corn Bread
- Add the Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix to a large bowl.
- Next, add the vegetable oil, sour cream, milk, eggs, and honey and mix until combined.
- Add the flour, mix, and pour into a greased baking dish.
- Bake at 375-degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on the top.
Start by adding two boxes of Jiffy cornbread mix to a large mixing bowl.
Pour the vegetable oil into the bowl with the boxes of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix.
Next, add the milk to the bowl.
You can use either regular milk or buttermilk for the recipe, depending on what you like better.
For this recipe, I used two-percent milk.
Add the eggs to the bowl.
Pour the sugar into the bowl.
The recipe calls for three tablespoons of sugar, which is only a small bit of sugar. You can add more or less depending on your taste.
It also calls for honey, so if you want to leave the sugar out, you can do that as well.
Next, add some sour cream to the bowl.
Sour cream is going to help make the cornbread moist, along with the vegetable oil.
If you’re not a big sour cream fan, you can switch it out with plain Greek yogurt.
Pour the honey into the bowl with the other ingredients and mix until combined.
If you like maple syrup, you can use that instead of honey. We love pure maple syrup around here, and that tastes great, as well.
For best results, don’t over mix because it can cause it to be more crumbly when baked.
Finally, add the flour to the bowl and mix it with the other ingredients.
Add the batter to a greased 9-inch by 13-inch baking dish and bake at 375-degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
You can wait until it cools to room temperature if you’d like, but warm cornbread tastes amazing. (Just be careful as it’s hot coming out of the oven).
If you happen to have any leftovers, you can store them on the counter in an airtight container or cover it with some plastic wrap. It will last a little longer in the refrigerator.
Tips:
- If you don’t like sour cream, you can switch it out and use plain Greek yogurt instead.
- For variety, use maple syrup in place of honey.
- The recipe can also be made in a large, greased cast iron skillet.
- We love to add some butter on top while the cornbread is still warm. There’s nothing better than melted butter on top of warm cornbread.
- We also like to drizzle a little bit of honey on top, as well.
- Don’t over mix, or it can cause the cornbread to come out crumbly.
