Cream Cheese Brownies
Cream cheese brownies might just be one of the best desserts I’ve eaten. They are amazingly moist, dense, chocolatey, and very decadent.
The recipe features a cheesecake layer sandwiched by a brownie layer for a creamy, fudgy dessert.
Homemade Brownies with Cream Cheese
The cream cheese adds a creamy flavor to the already wonderful fudgy brownies. And the homemade brownie recipe is so much better than a box mix.
I use this homemade brownie recipe for a lot of different types of brownies, such as peanut butter swirl brownies, pecan pie brownies, or buckeye brownies with sweetened condensed milk.
I’ve brought several of these different brownie recipes to the kids’ school, church events, and even the kids’ tutoring center, and they all loved them.

- Finally, spread the rest of the brownie mixture over the cream cheese and take a knife to swirl the two mixtures.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.
Homemade Brownie Mixture
Start by adding the flour, cocoa, and salt to a sifter. Sift the ingredients into a medium-sized bowl and set aside.
In a large bowl, add the sugar.
Pour the melted butter into the bowl and mix the two ingredients together.
Next, add the vanilla extract.
Add the flour mixture to the bowl and mix well.
In a small bowl, add the chocolate chips and flour and toss. Coating the chocolate chips will help keep them from sinking to the bottom of the batter.
Spread half of the brownie batter into a 9″ x 13″ prepared pan and set aside.
Cream Cheese Mixture
Add the softened cream cheese to a medium-sized bowl.
Next, add the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract and mix well.
Spread the cream cheese filling over the brownies. Then, spread the remaining brownie batter over the top.
Run a knife through the cheese and chocolate mixture to get a swirl effect.
Bake the cream cheese brownies for about 35 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.
Testing The Brownies:
- A little bit of batter will be on the cake tester for more moist and fudgy brownies.
- For brownies that are more cake-like, the cake tester will come out clean. This usually requires baking several minutes longer.
These are the best cream cheese brownies and will feed quite a few people. They are thick, chewy, and so delish. You can cut the pieces small and feed a large crowd, such as a church potluck or an office or holiday party.
Tips
- Leave the cream cheese out to soften before mixing.
- Use some nonstick cooking spray in your baking pan to keep them from sticking.
- Line the baking pan with parchment paper to lift them out after they cool. Cut the brownies with a sharp knife on a cutting board. For best results, wait until the brownies cool before cutting (although it will be really hard because they are so good).
Next Level Cream Cheese Brownies
The brownies have tons of chocolate flavor and are better than any box brownie mix. The layer of cream cheese helps create a creamy brownie that everyone loves. So the next time you need a recipe for something sweet and decadent, cream cheese brownies are the answer.
