Make-Ahead Tips

Chicken pot pie – make the base ahead of time and refrigerate for up to two days or freeze for up to two months. If frozen, allow it to thaw in the refrigerator overnight. When you’re ready to cook it, add it back to the skillet to reheat. Then, add the biscuits on top and bake as directed.

Sloppy Joes – these can be made ahead of time and kept refrigerated for two to three days or frozen for up to three months. Allow it to thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.

20-Minute bean soup – this can be made ahead and kept in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can also freeze this and thaw it out overnight before reheating it.

Storage And Reheating

All of the recipes reheat well. If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Pork chops – To reheat, add a bit of butter to a skillet and heat on medium heat until warmed through, ensuring proper internal temperature. The pork chops should reach 165 degrees. Check with a digital thermometer in the thickest part of the pork chop, and don’t let it touch the skillet, or you will get an incorrect reading.

Chicken pot pie – To reheat, place the leftovers in an oven-safe dish, cover with foil, and bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes, or until thoroughly heated. Alternatively, add the leftovers to a microwave-safe dish and reheat for two to three minutes, or until hot.

Sloppy Joes – reheat in a microwave-safe bowl for two to three minutes or until hot.

20-Minute bean soup – to reheat, add back to a saucepan and cook on medium for 10-15 minutes or until the soup is hot.

Chuck roast with Ginger Ale – to reheat, add it to an oven-safe dish and drizzle some beef broth or water over the top. Add some of the gravy on top and cover with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until the roast is heated through.
