Ingredients: A Perfect Blend of Sweet and Savory

  • Sweet Hawaiian Rolls: The foundation of our sliders, these rolls are the perfect size, offering a delightful sweetness. You can also make some dinner rolls at home and use those.
  • Large Slices of Leftover Ham or Turkey: A great way to repurpose leftover Thanksgiving turkey or ham into a delicious new dish. You can also use turkey or deli ham.
  • Cranberry Sauce: Whether it’s leftover cranberry sauce or a quick grab from the grocery store, its tartness beautifully complements the savory meat.
  • Swiss Cheese: Adds a creamy, melty layer. You can also experiment with Havarti, Brie, or your favorite cheese for extra flavor.
  • Unsalted Butter and Poppy Seeds: For that golden brown, slightly crunchy top roll.
  • Brown Sugar and Dijon Mustard: These add a hint of sweetness and tanginess to the butter mixture, enhancing the overall flavor.

Tips and Variations

  • Leftover Turkey Sliders: Substitute ham with leftover Thanksgiving turkey for a delightful variation.
  • Cheese Options: Experiment with different cheeses like Havarti or Brie cheese for a different taste.
  • Extra Flavor: Add Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, or Dijon mustard to the butter mixture for an additional flavor kick. Try some sesame seeds instead of poppy seeds.
  • Serving and Storage: These sliders are best served warm. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container to keep them fresh.

  1. Omiosh, these are the best! Never would have thought of using cranberry sauce, which is wonderful. Have made these with ham and with turkey, and with various cheeses. Our favorite! Thanks for another great recipe.

  2. Just took another batch out of oven, made with ham this time. Absolutely the best sliders ever, and I’ve made a lot of them. Have you come up with new sliders? Love your recipes.

    1. So glad to hear it! I don’t have more right now but I will come up with some!

Hi Julie, I’m a Memphis gal (now in Orlando) + have written to you before. Rarely cook these days (at 82), but still make and love your ham slider sandwiches for hubby + me. I make them with 12 oz of deli-sliced Virginia Ham on brioche rolls. Today I replaced the cranberry sauce with Bonne Maman Guava Preserves – OMIGOSH, are they good! Next time I think I’ll try Bonne Maman Peach Preserves. Today I used half Swiss and half Colby-Jack cheese slices, which is what I had on hand. Your slider recipe is so good and so versatile – I think any cheese and preserves combo would work well in it! I love Gouda cheese + am trying to decide which preserves to try with that.

    1. Hi Linda! I am so glad you are messaging again! Thank you so much for sharing how you switched the sliders up. It’s so fun to try them a new way and that sounds amazing! I bet orange marmalade would be good gouda. Have a good week!
