What I Love About This Recipe

- The chicken turns out so tender and flavorful.

Ingredients
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Softened cream cheese
- Sour cream or Greek yogurt
- Chicken coating mix
The recipe card at the bottom of the post contains a full printable recipe with measurements and instructions.
How To Make The Slow Cooker Chicken Recipe

Start by adding the chicken breasts and the cream cheese to a slow cooker.

Next, add the sour cream. If you’re not a fan of sour cream, you can use Greek yogurt instead.

Finally, sprinkle the chicken coating mix on top and spread it around. Place the lid on the Crock Pot and cook on low temperature for eight hours. Stir and serve over rice or mashed potatoes.

Storage And Reheating Instructions
Store any sour cream chicken leftovers in an airtight container and keep them refrigerated. To reheat the dinner, place it in a microwave-safe bowl and heat on low for several minutes. You can add a little more sour cream to freshen it up.

Hi Mary,
Yes! Thank you for pointing that out. It is fixed. We sure love this recipe!
Can you give more information about “chicken coating mix”, please.
I am not familiar with that.
Hi Pat,
Sure! It’s basically coating for chicken with breadcrumbs and seasoning. Grocery stores sell a product that is called chicken coating mix. Here is an example: https://www.kroger.com/p/kroger-easy-bake-chicken-seasoned-coating-mix/0001111070880
It’s similar to something like Shake N’ Bake.

Thanks so much, Paul! This is fantastic!
Great easy recipe. I served it over noodles. And it was a hit. Instead of sour cream I used cream of chicken soup. (I didn’t have sour cream). It made a nice chickeny gravy. Will definitely make this again. #blessyourheart
I am so glad you liked it! Such a reat idea to use cream of chicken soup! Thanks for sharing!
The family loved this. I served it over sweet potato noodles, so good and very tasty.

I am so glad you all loved this! Sweet potato noodles sounds like a fantastic addition!
Wow, Wow, Wow! I made this recipe with a couple of slight changes. I used boneless skinless chicken thighs and instead of the chicken coating, I took a bag of Sour Cream and Chive Funyons. Ran them through the food processor and put them on top. Cooked as recipe instructed. Tried to add picture but couldn’t figure out how to past in comment. Served this tonight for dinner over fresh homemade spatzle with a salad and there was nothing left. Wife and I had another couple over and my friend and his wife said, “ we got to know how to make this!” So gave them the recipe. I’m sure that won’t be the only one.

FANTASTIC recipe. Because I knew I would need to leave it on low for 9 hours I added 1/2 cup of no salt chicken bone broth to the bottom of the slow cooker……it eas a beautiful golden brown on top when I got home and the flavor and tenderness was fantastic! I served this with rustic mashed potatoes, sweet corn on the cob, buttery garlic fresh green beans, sweet pickled jalapenos and Okra also along with home made banana bread.
this is a DOAGAIN ! thanks

I made the 4-ingredient Slow Cooker Sour Cream Chicken recipe tonight. I cut it in half since it is just my husband and myself. My husband and I both loved it! We had it over rice. He said he thought it would even be good served on a bun as a sandwich, so we may try that too!
I am so glad that you both liked it! Thanks for sharing, Joy!

What is chicken coating mix?
Hi Tricia,
I like the chicken coating mix from Kroger, but you can use something like Shake and Bake. Here’s the link to what I get: https://www.kroger.com/p/kroger-easy-bake-chicken-seasoned-coating-mix/0001111070880
Hope you love it!
I thought wow 6 carbs per serving, but when I looked up the carb count on Kroger’s easy bake chicken season coating, it has 5 g carbs per 1/16th which is one serving. Recipes calls for both packets for total of 5 ounces. My guestimate comes to about 13-14 carbs per serving which is high carb if you’re on a very restrictive low carb diet such as keto. For me it would be ok as I’m more lower carb than full keto. It looks easy and delicious. I love anything with sour cream or cream cheese in it.
Hi Judy, definitely not a keto recipe. 🙂 I hope you love it if you make it.
