There are just five simple ingredients needed to make this delicious frosting. Then you can add it to all your favorite desserts.
It may be the most perfect frosting of all because it pairs well with everything.
You can also make it any color you wish by adding a small amount of gel food coloring. There are lots of gel food colors out there to choose from.
Then your frosted cake can match any occasion – favorite colors for a birthday party, a baby shower theme, spring, summer, winter, fall, holidays, or any time!
If you have leftover frosting, you can simply do what I do and dig in with a spoon.
However, I do try to behave from time to time, so I will often serve it with fresh fruit as a fruit dip for a snack.
Start by adding the softened cream cheese to a mixing bowl.
Next, add the sour cream.
Pour the vanilla extract into the bowl.
Add the powdered sugar.
Finally, pour the heavy cream into the bowl and mix well with an electric hand mixer or with a whisk attachment for your stand mixer. You will get that fluffy texture.
If the frosting is too thin, add a little bit of powdered sugar. If it’s too thick, add a little bit of heavy cream until it is the perfect consistency.
The recipe worked perfectly for this red velvet cream cheese cake!
Store the frosting in an airtight container or cover with plastic wrap and keep refrigerated.
