Easy Southern Praline Pecan Cake With Butter Sauce is an amazing cake. The pecan flavors with butter, sweetened condensed milk, and yellow cake are a wonderful combination.

Cake Mix

  • 15.25 ounce Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake Mix
  • 2/3 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup of sour cream
  • 4 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons heavy cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Pecan Butter Sauce

  • 3 Tablespoons of butter
  • 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 13-inch by 9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, add the cake mix, vegetable oil, sour cream, melted butter, brown sugar, and heavy cream, eggs, and mix well.
  3. Add the chopped pecans and fold them into the cake batter.
  4. Pour batter into cake pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.

Butter Pecan Sauce

  1. After the cake bakes, add the butter to a small saucepan and melt on low heat.
  2. Next, pour the sweetened condensed milk into the saucepan after the butter melts and stir. Cook until hot.
  3. Add the pecans and stir.
  4. Pour the butter sauce over one slice of cake or the entire cake.

I put the butter sauce in a glass measuring cup to pour over the cake more easily. Be sure to stir it often because the pecans will float to the top quickly and you don't want all of your pecans on one slice.

If the low setting on your stove doesn't get the butter sauce hot, you can turn it up to medium. But, keep an eye on it, so it doesn't burn.
