| 5 minutes | 7 hours | 4 | Beginner + |

Ingredients
For this recipe, I use vinegar, which helps tenderize the chicken. If you don’t have any, a lemon or lime will work. If you want to make things a little spicy, add some red pepper flakes.
Step-By-Step Ingredients

Add the brown sugar, vinegar, and garlic powder to a bowl. Next, add the BBQ sauce and mix well.

Place the raw chicken in the slow cooker and pour the BBQ sauce mixture over it. Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on the low heat setting for seven hours.

Hi Julie , I stumbled onto your website and I like what I see. home cooking made simple and easy with a lot of crock pot recipes. I am handicapped and those type of recipes are a god sent to me!! that I don’t have to pay a lot of attention to. or hover over. I greatly appreciate you and your work. keep them coming. I have not tried the recipe as of yet but definitely will. Thanks, so much for sharing.
Hi Theresa,
This makes me SO happy that it will help you! I am so glad to hear this and glad that you are here!
The bbq sauce is really good. However, I have no idea as to why but my chicken started to burn after 3 hours on low heat. I took it out and transferred to another dish to reheat for dinner. So, I’m assuming, with my crockpot cooking time would reduced by half.
How much chicken did you have in the Crock Pot? Do you have a large Crock Pot? Also, my Crock Pot started burning everything and would get very hot, even on low, and I had to replace it. Could that be an issue?
Replying to Julie, my crockpot is a medium size, but I’m not sure of the exact quart size. I used 2 chicken breasts. Evidently, it cooks rather fast. This was the first time I had tried BBQ chicken in it. I’m not giving up. I will be making it again. Plus, I’m going to make the sauce to use on other meats. Thank you for posting.
That’s so helpful to know—thank you for sharing! Two chicken breasts in a medium Crock Pot might cook a little faster, especially if there’s extra space in the pot (less volume to heat = quicker cooking). You might try checking it around the 2-hour mark next time just to see how it’s doing. Keep en eye on your Crock Pot when you cook other things and see how it does. Sometimes they just get extra hot (technology is fun).
I love that you’re not giving up—and I’m thrilled to hear you’re planning to use the sauce on other meats too! That BBQ flavor really is a keeper. Let me know how your next round turns out—I’d love to hear! ❤️🍗
I made this yesterday. It was delicious. Notice I said was. My family ate all of it. Thank you for a great recipe.,
That’s fantastic to hear! I am so glad you all loved it!
