Why You Will Like This Hot Taco Dip Recipe

In my experience, cheesy beef taco dip is the perfect crowd-pleaser. You can serve it for Taco Tuesday, your Cinco de Mayo party, family movie nights, or holiday parties. Itโ€™s a year-round classic that makes everyone swoon. This delicious taco dip is always one of the first things to disappear whenever I put out a spread of appetizers and snacks. Take one taste, and youโ€™ll understand why!

If you need a great way to whip up something fast and tasty for your next gathering, throw these simple ingredients together, and theyโ€™ll create this delicious cheesy dip that is always a huge hit.

How to Make and Assemble the Recipe

Making taco dip in steps.

TIP: This cheesy taco dip is super easy to make, but you can make it even easier on yourself by letting the cream cheese soften before you begin. Youโ€™ll also want to cube up the Velveeta cheese.

  1. When youโ€™re ready, heat your oven to 350 degrees. As it warms up, grab a medium-sized skillet and brown your ground beef with the onion and taco seasoning over medium-high heat. Youโ€™ll want to cook this for seven to 10 minutes or until the meat is browned and fully cooked.
  2. Drain the excess grease from your pan, and then add the salsa. Stir this well to combine it with the meat.
  3. By this point, the oven should be preheated and ready to go. Youโ€™ll take an 8×8-inch baking dish and put in the cream cheese, spreading it so it fills the bottom. Top this with the cubes of Velveeta cheese.
  4. Pour the ground beef mixture on top of the cheese, then cover with aluminum foil. Youโ€™ll bake this layered taco dip for about 10 to 12 minutes.
  5. Once itโ€™s done baking, remove the foil and add your garnishes. Iโ€™ve used cilantro, diced tomatoes, and black olives. You can additionally add any of your other favorite taco toppings either on top or on the side along with your bag of tortilla chips.

Additional Toppings To Add Variety

  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Green chiles or chili peppers
  • Sliced bell peppers
  • Monterey jack cheese
  • Diced green onions
  • Hot sauce
  • Your favorite toppings
  • Add some refried beans or black beans on the side.

Substitutions

If youโ€™re not a red meat person or want a healthier version, you can replace the ground beef in this recipe with either ground chicken or ground turkey.

This cheesy taco dip is such a great party appetizer, though it tastes best when itโ€™s warm. You can cover it with foil to help it retain its heat or simply pop it in the oven when everyone arrives.
