Homemade Condensed Cream Of Mushroom Soup

- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 6 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup chicken stock or broth
- 1 cup milk
- 4 ounces white mushrooms chopped
Chop the mushrooms and set aside.
Add the all-purpose flour, garlic salt, onion powder, salt, and pepper to a large mixing bowl and whisk until combined. Pour the chicken broth and milk into the bowl and whisk until the lumps are gone.
Add the chopped mushrooms to the bowl and mix.
Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan on medium heat.
Add the mushroom mixture to the saucepan with melted butter and whisk.
Cook the soup until thick, which will only take a few minutes. Whisk occasionally.
I purchased sliced mushrooms and then chopped them.
The recipe ends up making about the equivalent of one can of condensed soup - 11 ounces.
