Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon Rolls
- 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1-1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1 stick butter softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Icing
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp. milk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Cinnamon Rolls
Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to a mixing bowl. Mix together.
Add the shortening and mix together until the mixture resembles crumbs.
Pour the buttermilk into the mix and mix together.
Knead on the counter (or in a mixer with a dough hook) for 3-4 minutes.
Roll out until the dough is about 1/4-inch thick.
Spread the softened butter all over the dough.
Mix the cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle all over the dough.
Roll up and slice into 2-inch pieces.
Place in a greased baking dish and bake for about 30 minutes or until it's no longer doughy.
Icing
Add the powdered sugar to a bowl or measureing cup.
Add the milk and mix together.
Pour over warm cinnamon rolls.
