Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup butter-flavored shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Add the butter, shortening, white, and brown sugars to a large mixing bowl and mix to combine on low speed.
  • Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix.
  • Next, add the flour, baking soda, salt, and mix. Do not overmix.
  • Add the chocolate chips and mix.
  • Refrigerate for one hour.
  • Take a large cookie scoop and scoop out a cookie. Place it on the cookie sheet at least two inches from the other cookies.
  • Bake for 9-12 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown on the outside.
  • Allow the cookies to cool for about 10 minutes, and move to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Notes

The cookie dough is a little crumbly, so you might have to press it together when you are scooping it out and onto the cookie sheet.
