Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • ½ cup yellow onion finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef 90/10
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 15 ounce can of Manwich original sloppy joe sauce
  • 2 ½ cups shredded Colby jack cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise and place it face up onto the lined baking sheet.
  • Add the olive oil and onion to a large pan and cook over medium-high heat for three minutes or until the onions are translucent.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until it has browned. Drain the grease and return it to the pan.
  • Reduce heat to low and add the garlic powder, salt, pepper, and sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, mixing thoroughly to combine.
  • Spread the sloppy joe mixture evenly onto each half of the bread and top with shredded cheese.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese has melted and the edges of the bread are crispy and golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Before serving, cut into 1-1 ½ inch slices.

Notes

  1. Best served immediately while warm.
  1. Be sure to drain the excess grease before adding the sauce.
