- 2 cups of drippings from turkey or other meat
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- Chicken broth if needed
Save the drippings from cooking a turkey and pour through a mesh strainer to catch the larger pieces. Let it sit to the side for a few minutes so the fat will rise to the top.
Melt the butter in a saucepan on medium heat.
Once the butter melts, add the flour and combine with a whisk. It will be lumpy.
Pour the saved liquid into the pan and whisk until the lumps are gone.
Allow the gravy to boil until it thickens.
Remove and serve.
If the gravy is too thin, add one tablespoon of flour and mix to combine. If it's too thick, add one to two tablespoons of liquid until you reach the desired consistency.
If you run out of liquid drippings, you can add a little bit of chicken broth.
If you have leftovers, keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
