- 9- inch frozen deep dish pie shell unbaked
- 1 Tablespoon butter melted
- 1 pound pork sausage cooked
- 1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Allow the pie crust to thaw out a little.
Brush melted butter on the pie crust and bake for 20 minutes.
Cook the sausage and drain the grease (or use precooked sausage).
In a mixing bowl, mix cooked sausage with flour.
Sprinkle the cheese into the pie crust.
Add the sausage on top of the cheese.
Mix the eggs and milk and pour over the sausage.
Return to oven for 35 to 45 minutes. (Bake until a knife comes out clean).
I like to cover a sheet pan with aluminum foil and place the pie pan on top so that if anything boils over it won't be a mess in your oven.
We like sharp cheddar cheese here, but you can use your favorite shredded cheese for the recipe.
For the pie crust, you can use a homemade pie crust, refrigerated pie crust, or frozen.
