Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen or fresh blueberries
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. lemon zest optional

Instructions

  • Add the blueberries to a saucepan and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until the juices are released and the berries are soft.
  • While the blueberries cook, add the sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cinnamon to a bowl and mix.
  • Add the sugar mixture to the berries after they are soft and mix well.
  • Cook another four to five minutes or until the syrup is thick, stirring occasionally to keep the blueberries from sticking to the pan.
  • Remove from the heat and add the lemon juice and lemon zest and stir.
  • Pour into clean jars or add to a treat.
